Donut and a Dream, A
by C. Carson Parks
One cup of coffee, waitress, ain't quite enough.
The highway life ain't quite the life it seems.
Tonight i seem to find the roadbed pretty rough.
Give me a donut and a dream.

Release #1
I count my life in terms of hours down the line.
Leaving some women just gets harder all the time.

I've tried to live one roadside diner at a time.
Just pour it black, i don't take cream.
Life must be something more than one cup for a dime.
And tonight i need a donut and a dream.

Release #2
I think she likes me and i ought to hang around
Then i get to thinking i should try another town.

One cup of coffee, waitress, ain't quite enough
Tonight i need a donut and a dream.
