If I'd Known Then What I Know Now |
by C. Carson Parks |
Verse # 1: If I’d Know Then What I Know Now, I would have found a way to end it all somehow But I could not read the meaning in your smile Oh, if I’d only know then the things that I know now. Verse # 2: I was a fool where you’re concerned And it was you who lit the fire, but I got burned. And it’s a very bitter lesson I have learned. Oh, if I’d only known then the things that I know now. Bridge: Oh yes, it’s true you never said I was “the one” And that I lingered in your head when day was done. And so I just assumed that we both felt the same, But you were playing at love’s oldest game. Verse # 3: Oh, if I’d only known then the things that I know now, back then, I would have never played the fool like so many other men. But you can bet your life that it’ll never happen again Oh, if I’d only known then the things that I know now. It’s true, you never said I was “the one” And that I lingered in your head when day was done. And so I just assumed that we both felt the same, But you were playing at love’s oldest game. Repeat Verse # 3 |
