An obvious “take-off” from the “National Anthem”, (Sousa got away with it!), but I guess I wanted to see how far out I could take it. I was doing some fast picking, as I recall, and it was tough getting breath, singing, and picking at the tempo I wanted. Aside from the opener, the line I most like is “..by the dawn’s early light, you come home every night.” I don’t know where these ideas come from, but if I knew, I’d have all the hits, and nobody else would have any. I think my mind is okay, but maybe I need a second opinion! My Dad was a “shrink”, but he’s the “late lamented”, which might be a good thing!
