Second Mrs. Tanqueray, The

by C. Carson Parks

I had the luxury of writing not for the money, but for a feel.  I had never written anything with one of those opening portions like Cole Porter did.  After I finished closing my Aunt's Estate in Florida, and was headed up to Nashville from Pompano Bch., towing a trailer behind her little Mercury Cougar, I crossed the Tennessee border on I-75.  There was a "welcome center", where I could sit and relax.  The idea had been bouncing around in my head that most of my Florida connections were now broken.  In the meantime, I was going through my second divorce, and I thought of "two ex-Mrs. Parkses", with apologies to Arthur Wing Pinero and a good English gin!
