White Ring Stays, The

by C. Carson Parks

This was sparked by my observing a person in a bar in Hollywood, who had fairly suntanned hands except for where there was a white ring where there had obviously been a wedding band. He/she was pretty self-conscious about it and tried to conceal it. I didn’t pry into the situation. Either the person had just gotten a divorce or the ring was secreted in a pocket, and somebody was hoping to get lucky! Except for an interesting initial concept, it seems a little maudlin.
