With His Pants In His Hand |

Performed by Jerry Reed. After I moved to Nashville and met Chet Atkins, he asked me if I had any songs for Jerry Reed. I gave them "Upper U.S.", "Hills Of Caroline", and this one. They called from Chet's office, laughing like mad, and asked if I had any other verses. Well, I had written a lot of verses, in the style of "The Great Historical Bum", a theme used in many songs throughout time, so I took them all in to Jerry's office and he picked the ones that he liked best. He did a super job on it, and they released it as a single. Unfortunately, just as it started up the charts, they released the soundtrack from "Smoky And The Bandit", and that killed it.
